Robert Tavera, M.D.
Board Certified in Internal Medicine

Dr. Robert Tavera is a native of San Antonio and a founding member of HealthTexas Medical Group.  He has practiced medicine in the San Antonio downtown area for the past 17 years.  He earned his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School.  Dr. Tavera completed his internship and residency training in Internal Medicine at the William Beaumont Army Medical Center in El Paso.

Dr. Tavera has a special interest in Geriatrics and has received the distinct honor of being awarded and recognized as one of The Best Doctors in America from 2005-2010 as well as a Top Doctor in San Antonio 2009 by medical professionals.  He is bicultural and bilingual in English and Spanish.  Dr. Tavera has been married to his wife, Doreen, for over 30 years and they have two adult chidren.  Dr. Tavera has received the Doctoral Achievement Award 2009 by the West San Antonio Chamber of Commerce. When not seeing patients, Dr. Tavera enjoys reading, hiking, and backpacking. He looks forward to meeting you and discussing your healthcare needs.
